Glass Garage Doors
Compared to aluminum, wood and steel garage doors, glass garage doors are less common although aluminum frames are used. These doors are not the best but since they are reasonably cheaper and of light weight, people go for them. There are many disadvantages that come with using glass garage doors: these doors do not resist dents however slight they may be; more so in cold winter, you will experience poor insulation.
Other disadvantages of using the glass garage doors are that with age they start turning yellowish brown. When the climate is hot or cold, the doors crack and warp with ease which means that they are not long lasting. However, today you will find garage doors made from glass that are of better and newer. Some of the benefits associated with glass garage doors that are in the market include: they have the texture and look of wood and cherry, oak wood and mahogany are examples of wood whose patterns are adopted.
The glass panels of these doors come with framework from steel. Therefore the glass garage doors can withstand constant use that would cause wear and tear. Even in tropical areas, these doors can be used owing to resistance to corrosion due to the air being saturated with salt. There is notable improvement of heat transfer restively.
Some people avoid glass garage doors because they need to be painted since they begin to appear worn out soon. Latex and primer paints are of good quality therefore can be used. Before painting, the door needs to be cleaned using water and soap and then it is wiped dry. Glass garage doors are best painted when there is less humidity and it is not windy to prevent dust from settling on paint. When it is too hot, the paint becomes gooey.
